Massapequa High School’s revival of Cabaret Night was a huge success this year. The showcase featured performances from some of Massapequa’s most talented vocalists and displayed the outstanding talent that Massapequa has to offer.
Ranging from A Great Big World to Les Miserables, the selection of music was as diverse as the students who were performing it. The show also included songs from musicals such as She Loves Me and, of course, Cabaret.
Performers and audience members alike agree that there is something particularly special about Cabaret Night. “Cabaret Night is what I look forward to all year,” senior Julia DeGasperis said. DeGasperis performed “Joey is a Punk Rocker,” a selection from the garage-band musical The Black Suites.
The show was hosted by senior Anthony Romano, whose talent at hosting alone was an artful performance in itself. All of the acts were woven together with a great deal of showmanship.
In addition to providing entertainment, Cabaret Night serves to demonstrate the skill and dedication of Massapequa’s musicians. Regardless of whether one’s on the stage or in the audience, anyone who comes to the show will have a wonderful evening. After a two year hiatus, the MHS Music Department is glad to say that Cabaret Night is back, and thankfully, here to stay.
