Say goodbye to Bistro and hello to Crostini’s!
I recently had the pleasure of eating at Crostini’s, the new pizzeria that replaced Pizza Bistro in the Southgate Shopping Center. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the ample amount of seating and the modern décor. Compared to Pizza Bistro, which felt very crowded and looked outdated, the new atmosphere was refreshing.
Although I went to the restaurant at a busy time in the afternoon, I received my order in less than three minutes. For a regular slice, two garlic knots, and a soda, I paid a little under five dollars. During the school year, however, if a student pays four dollars or more, he will receive a free soda.
Personally, I thought the pizza was mediocre. The crust was thin, the sauce was slightly dry, and the slice was a little cold. I thought the garlic knots were tasty but much too small. However, there was a nice variety of pizza to choose from, including Sicilian, Marinara, Grandma, and Buffalo Chicken slices.
Crostini’s has to compete with Fredo’s Pizzeria, a strong opponent upon which MHS lunch-goers have relied heavily after Pizza Bistro closed. When it comes down to taste, I prefer Fredo’s pizza. But, I would rather sit in Crostini’s, as it’s much more inviting.
I can definitely see myself having lunch at Crostini’s during the school year. If you’re overwhelmed with lunch choices or pressed for time, I would recommend giving Crostini’s a try!
