Hey, everyone! Evelyn Sokolowski here!
I’ve never written a blog before (don’t know how), but I’ll do my best– so bear with me. 😉
Since I’m such a good samaritan, for those in the tenth grade that are going on the Washington D.C. Tour in February, I’ma give some reviews on what you may see… And believe me, it pains me to blog about this because I really wanted to go and I just happened to not know the deadlines. But this blog ain’t about me– it’s about you guys and your… fun trip.
So, the first place that’ll be discussed is the first tour that’ll be taken at eleven AM: The Ronald Reagan Building.
(Ignoring who owns this building since that’s boring stuff…) This building is the largest structure in Washington D.C. -people ‘Oh’s and ‘Ah’s in the background- It’s also the first and only federal building designated for public and private use, being mandated by Congress to bring together the country’s best public and private resources to create a national forum for the advancement of trade.
Now, that was just background info… Here’s comes the good stuff!
The Ronald Reagan Building contains exhibits and educational displays throughout the year. Some stuff would include Berlin Wall, Make it in America Exhibit, Oscar Straus Memorial Fountain by Adolph Alexander Weinman, Woodrow Wilson Presidential Memorial Exhibit.
Since I sadly am not going on this trip, I have no clue which exhibits will be toured but all of these sounds really interesting like the Berlin Wall is a real chunk of the wall and was donated to the Ronald Reagan Building. The Make it in America Exhibit shows a glimpse of innovative products being manufactured around the nation… and so on and so forth.
Here’s the link that goes more in depth on each exhibit: http://www.itcdc.com/Visitor-Information/Attractions.aspx
Me, myself, I’m looking at all the stuff offered for visitors and when I clicked retail (http://www.itcdc.com/Visitor-Information/R.aspx), first time I catch sight of is Nancy’s Flowers and Chocolate Shop. Now, that only gained my attention since I’m friends with a chocolate lover… so, when you go there, please, buy some chocolate and give it to me so I can give it to mi amigo. (Joke, joke.)
But there are places you can get souvenirs. (Now that’s what I want someone to get me.<3– Sadly, I must lie and say: Joke, joke.)
Since I’m aware that y’all are going to be eating lunch at the Ronald Reagan Building, all I see are two options: Aria Pizzeria and Food Court. (I strongly don’t see anyone being allowed to go to the Wine Cooperative.) According to the description of Aria Pizzeria, they have food that’ll make your taste buds sing. If you do not like singing, I do not recommend this place… Your mouth will be like a full chorus. 😉
I can’t really recommend anything since I haven’t been to the Ronald Reagan Building, but hey! At least you guys could recommend something to me after you go… since I’m not going… :’(
Well, that’s all I could see interesting for your eleven o’clock time at the Ronald Reagan Building.

Enjoy and good-bye!
Ha.
You thought this blog was seriously over?
Got one more place to check out for this blog then two more places will be reviewed in a different blog… and so on and so forth.
So, right after the Ronald Reagan Building is the tour of Georgetown, Washington’s National Cathedral and Embassy Row.
-sigh- Google is making it hard for me to search up these places– I-I mean… I’m not using Google, pfft! Are you– Well, it does make sense for me to use Google since I mean I haven’t been on the Washington D.C. trip and… I’m not going to. (Tear.)
Anyways, so this is going to be a two-hour walking tour (ha, walking) of Washington’s Embassy Row. Historical homes, notable statues, and embassies will be seen, ending at the National Cathedral.
I apologize that I’m not going as into depth with this place as I did with the Ronald Reagan Building, but like I said– Google is making this hard for me.
So, here’s a link I found of which sites’ stories you’ll be hearing about (not the actual story itself): http://sidewalkguides.com/embassyrow.htm
Again, I apologize for the inability to go as into depth with this, I know that’s what y’all wanted.
This concludes the first blog… I’m unaware if I even did this just merely right.
Stay tuned for the next few days for the other six tours that’ll be taken. 🙂
Adios!
