The number four ranked boys varsity baseball team, looking to win their first county championship since 2009, swept the best-of-three series against number one ranked MacArthur in Game 1 of the series on Wednesday, May 29 at SUNY Farmingdale.
The Chiefs took a lead in Game 1 of the series as starter Alex Cosenza pitched a complete game shutout. In Game 2, Bobby Honeyman and Nick Comito each had two-run singles in the second inning to give Massapequa a 5-0 lead. Patrick Healy took a no-hitter into the fifth inning as Honeyman pitched the last two innings that saved Massapequa.
The number one ranked boys varsity lacrosse team defeated number three ranked Port Washington in the Nassau Class A boys lacrosse championship at Hofstra University on Tuesday, May 28.
This year, the Chiefs were hoping to win their first county title after three years of coming up short as a runner-up in the county finals. Ian Kirby scored three goals and had an assist while Paul Dilena had some tricks of his own. Paul Bentz and Scott Pemberton each added two goals as the Chiefs crushed Port Washington 16-3.
