Biden’s First 100 Days in Office

Joe Biden initiated various policies and signed executive orders when he became the President of the United States. He began by stopping the travel ban from Muslim-majority countries including Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, and ending the funding construction of a wall on the US-Mexico border.

Biden also canceled the construction of both the Keystone Pipeline. While some support these orders, many others have been left unhappy. Due to the cancellation of both projects, Biden cost an estimated 52,100 Americans lost their jobs in just the first few hours of his presidency.

Further, he rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement and ended the actions taken by the Trump administration to eliminate undocumented immigrants from census data to be used in determining a state’s number of Congressional seats.

One of Biden and Harris’s main goals is to make all public places mask mandated and initiate more social distancing orders in federal buildings. After launching these orders, they publicized the importance of receiving the coronavirus vaccine, considering that the number of vaccinated people are very low.

According to Kaiser Health News, to further Biden’s emphasis on receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, he created the “America Rescue Plan”. This relief package dedicated $416 billion to the national vaccination program with a goal of vaccinating 100 million people during Biden’s first 100 days in office.

The president is also planning to redistribute the 30 million dollars that the Trump Administration left for farmers. Due to the trade wars with China and other competing nations, many farmers suffered from foreign tariffs placed on American products and needed the money to recover. Biden plans to put that money towards climate change projects, however does not plan on consulting Congress first before making the decision.

Biden recently also signed an executive order requiring that transgender females be allowed to compete in womens’ sports against biological females in federally funded schools. While this is a great step forward to trans-rights, this has been causing issues for biological females when it comes to competing as they find it difficult to keep up or surpass the transgender females who may be naturally stronger.

While some decisions have been controversial, President Joe Biden has ensured his position as a strong president, who is willing to make jurassic social and economic changes in efforts to better the lives of citizens.
