The praised Field of Honor Ceremony took place on November 7, 2015 and received much acclaim from the public as it does every year.

Veterans are the appreciated group of brave and courageous soldiers who sacrifice their safety and well-being to ensure the security, freedom, and welfare of the entire United States of America.  If no one else deserves respect, surely they do, and, on the occasion of Veteran´s Day, the Field of Honor was once again erected for this exact reason.

The Massapequa Key Club, the high school component of the Kiwanis Club, joined by the MHS’ ice hockey team, combined forces in an ad hoc group to accomplish a demonstration of Massapequa’s tremendous respect for veterans.

For the last four years, this visual representation of appreciation waved from the lawns of the MHS Main Campus and Alfred G. Berner Middle School from November 7 through December 8.

Key Club President Kellyann McClenahan helped organize and attended the patriotic event.

“It enhanced my appreciation of veterans because seeing all of the flags set up showed me how many people actually are fighting to protect us since there were many from just Massapequa,” McClenahan said.

In parting, McClenahan shares that she hopes “this tradition continues!”
