It is hard to believe that just ten years ago, the tragic terrorist attacks on our country would forever change our lives.
As the decade anniversary draws closer, Massapequa High School commemorates the lives of our fallen loved ones, and our heroes with the opening ceremony of the World Trade Center tribute. Standing not only magnificently and dignified, but as a symbol of our community and our country’s strength to overcome, the statue is honored as an actual piece of framework recovered from Ground Zero.
Once seen as a painful entity unfolding before us, the framework can now serve as a reminder of our determination; of our courage; of our compassion.
For some, the statue will stand for those who stood for our safety in a time of need. For others, it will symbolize the way in which we lean upon one another for support- how there is strength in community.
