On October 1st, 2021, Mr. Brian Conboy became the new Interim Superintendent of the Massapequa School District! For the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, Mr. Conboy will take the place of the former Superintendent, Lucille Iconis. Iconis worked with the Massapequa School District for over 20 years, including eight years as Superintendent.

Mr. Conboy is looking forward to carrying out the legacy of Lucille Iconis, considering that she fulfilled the role of a superintendent with care and respect. He states that she left the district in “great shape financially and academically and with a solid foundation on which to build.”

Mr. Conboy, having served as the Superintendent of Seaford School District for seven years and the principal of Massapequa High School for two years, is an experienced and skilled director. He feels “honored and privileged” to be in his current position.

Conboy’s career at Seaford lasted 33 years, 21 of which included multiple administrative roles. After he retired, Massapequa High School had been searching for an interim principal. Conboy states, “I thought if the right district called, I would be willing to step in temporarily as an interim administrator in some capacity.”

Being the considerate and skilled educational leader he is, Conboy took up that job for two years. “ I spent two wonderful school years as principal of MHS and enjoyed the experience thoroughly.  Getting the opportunity to lead a large prestigious district like Massapequa from the Superintendent’s office is an opportunity I could not pass up.” Conboy states.

Conboy speaks very highly of Massapequa, accounting for the remarkable education that his two children received from the Massapequa School District, “I know the solid reputation of the district is well earned, and I am pleased for the opportunity to ensure that it is maintained during my time at the helm.”

Conboy is going to be fully accessible throughout the school district and will make any change necessary with the help of the staff.

He hopes to “pass the baton” onto the next educational leader that will take his position for the next school year, as “stability in leadership is one of the essential keys to success in education.”

Without a doubt, Mr. Conboy is pleased to be serving the district another year, “Getting the opportunity to lead a large prestigious district like Massapequa from the Superintendent’s office is an opportunity I could not pass up.”
